Ah, well.
The other night I was complaining profusely to dylan about politics.
it mostly stemmed from a prolife conference that i attended last weekend in which something very smart was said.
now, granted i am not positive who said this, b u t im pretty sure
Jason Jones (amazing speaker. like yes.) said that someone he knew said it.
that the greatest tragedy was that the pro-life position was branded on the republican/right wing party.
mmhmm.
now, before anyone gets all political on me, i don't really know a whole lot about politics or why
certain people stand for what they do.
i still have three years to figure that one out, so ill cross that bridge when i come to it.
im just saying.
politics in general seem like just one more reason for people to bicker and argue with each other.
now, back to dylan,
he said something smart (i know, a surprise ;).
that politicians aren't really trying to help anyone but themselves.
it's more about helping themselves than it is the rest of the country/world.
now, i know that there probably are politicians who do.
don't jump on my case.
but sometimes i wonder, if we weren't spending so much time argueing over what to do, imagine all the time we would have to actually DO something to help everyone else!
sometimes i wonder how much it would take to just meet in the middle and try to do the thing thats best for the rest of the country, not just to push our own agenda.
granted, im sure we all have different ideas about whats best for the country.
anyhow, whenever i listen to the aforementioned song, i think to myself "what kind of world do I want?"
and here's my answer in three simple forms:
-i want a world where everyone actually has rights, instead of just being told they do.
-and a world where it's "one for all and all for one" where we work for the person next to us, everyone around us.
-and a world where everyone can agree. oh, i know, sounds preposterous. BUT, what i really mean, is we can agree to disagree. where people can respect each others opinions, and try to work with each other, regardless of their views.
granted ( i use that word a lot), i think that i don't exactly live by request number two, and that
it's something we all should work on.
so,
What Kind Of World Do You Want?
muchlove,
naomi
(and i'd love to hear from you on this one. fershure)
